Primary Research - Audience
I did a questionnaire and I turned the results into a few pie charts. I figured that the problem with this is that you can't link the data, for example, you can't see if a male or female said that they like poker, but I also like this aspect because it's more anonymous. I did 10 questions and I turned the most relevant ones into pie charts since some were opinions and therefore couldn't have been turned into pie charts. The first one that I thought was the most relevant was the age because this gives me an idea of what people this age group like and what I should focus for if that age group is my target audience. I asked the question do they like card games, because I wanted to see if it would be relevant to make one for this age audience, and if so how they would find it (in terms of if they like it and enjoy playing them). I asked about gender because I wanted to see what girls would say. I wished that I kept it fairer instead of having 8 boys and 2 girls, having 5 for both maybe and I might have got more spread out results. I wanted to ask how much they would spend, as this would tell me if they are willing to spend money to buy the game or spend money in the game. One interesting result that I got was, someone, put how much time they would spend on a session, which means that the question was quite vague and I should have changed it. His answer was 30 minutes, which is good because this gives me some insight as to how much time people would generally play the game.
Primary Research - Inspiration
Here are some pictures that I took from London zoo. The reason why I took these pictures for my research is that I wanted a reference for some of these animals and also I went to the zoo to get inspiration, for my ideas and card designs. Sadly there were some pictures that I didn't get to take such as the butterfly house and also the lions since they were sleeping and they slept for the whole day. So far I have made 2 cards and all of them I have used inspiration from the cards. If you want to see these this will be concept art page.

Experimentation with Technology
Today we did modeling with Plasticine. The idea is, that we model something and then we scan it with it a 3-D scanner after that we import it and we animate it. I decided to create a creature that is a spiky ball with wings. After modeling it I had a problem with one of the wings since it was loose and quite heavy so it was close to falling off. To fix this what I did was get Plasticine and put it over to give it a stronger connection.
After the modeling was finished, I started to do the 3-D scanning. There was a small table that we used for this and on it was plasticine with a pencil. I got to show a small told how to do it and also someone helped me just to make sure that I was going through the process right. After this, I started the scanning with rotating the newspaper to rotate my model slowly and then the program that we used required us to go under and over to pick up the character properly. After this, I tried to do it again to try and get a better result. Once this was finished I imported it to Maya.
Something that I did for my experimentation is looking to see what art that I should use this was for several things such as the level of my card and which one should I use. I used the one that looks closest to the same art style as the text for the level on the card. I think trying to do bubble numbers like bubble writing would look weird and I think that it would not suit. I experimented to see what it would look like on the card and I preferred the other style so I stuck with that for the final piece.
I did experimentation for the card stack and the back of the card I did 3 different ones 2 of them were just colours and I liked the one with the logo because I thought overall it had more style but I though I could have changed the background of the card or I could have used 1 of the colorful backgrounds but the problem is that it would attract much attention and that might make people lose focus towards the game itself.
Secondary Research - Production
The card games that I looked at that inspired me was Yu-Gi-Oh and Hearthstone these games inspired me because Yu-Gi-Oh was my childhood game and the anime that I watched when I was younger. I liked it so much that I learned the rules just from watching the anime and not from reading the rule book. The way people keep this game updated and make people come back is by adding cards to the game or making new anime series for it this attracts younger people and also keeps so of the older audiences. They have done this with a few cards and they have invented fusion, xyzs, and synchro.
Hearthstone I like it a lot because it is super unique and there are no other card games that are like it also people think its a game that is pay to win but it's not because you have to grind to earn the gold. the thing that I like about it as well is that the developers for the game add content all the time so there will be new cards there will be new adventures for the game. They realize this every single time they make new content for WOW (World of Warcraft). This is really good because they are both connected so they can both borrow content for both games.
Secondary Research Artistic Research
One of the artists that I am going to look at is Bernie Kang. He is the artist of the card called
Deathwing. In my opinion, this is the best and coolest card in Hearthstone and the model in WOW looks really cool. The reason why it looks so coll is that of the how he manipulated the object to add a smile and eyes. The character reminds me of another model and splashes art that I have seen for a game called LOL (League of Legends) this character is called Malphite. The creation of Malphite's splash art is made by an artist called Alex Flores. The third artist that I will look at is Kazui Takahashi The reason why I am looking at this artist well he is my biggest influence towards this project in general.
